The new official commitment of the Comboni Lay Missionaries of the DRC

The new official commitment of the Comboni Lay Missionaries of the DRC

Since April 2018 this is the third time that the Comboni Lay Missionaries have committed themselves to mission ad gentes and ad vitam in the international movement of the Comboni Lay Missionaries.

They are six(6) who freely and voluntarily decided to commit themselves before God and before the Christian assembly this Sunday 11 October 2020 in the parish of St. John Paul II held by the Comboni Missionaries.

"Go, you also into my vineyard" (Mt. 20, 3-4). "The lay faithful are also called personally by the Lord, from whom they receive a mission for the Church and for the world".

All the laity are missionaries by virtue of their baptism, referring to the words with which Jesus Christ, Crucified and Risen, before ascending to heaven, entrusted the Apostles with the missionary mandate: "Go, make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you", which never ceases to resound, as a universal and ardent call.

As the Comboni laity grows over time, the province proceeded, for the third time, to the definitive commitment of 6 members, during the Eucharistic celebration presided over by its Chaplain, Fr. NGORE GALI Célestin, mccj and animated by the Afriquespoir Choir of the Comboni Lay Missionaries, on 11 October 2020.

After pronouncing the formula of commitment in front of the altar, the father chaplain gave them the cross as a sign of the following of Christ. Jesus died crucified, nailed to a cross. For Christians, the cross is the symbol of Christ's death and resurrection. For Comboni too, sufferings represent the cross: "We will have to tire, sweat and die; but the thought that we sweat and die for love of Jesus Christ and the salvation of the most abandoned souls of the world is too sweet to make us desist from this great undertaking". This is the sign of salvation that God offers to all humanity. And the Writings of Comboni, a sign of belonging to the Comboni family in a definitive way.

In the impulse of missionary animation, after having organised its 2nd Provincial Assembly in December 2019, the province is working towards holding, next November 2020, its twentieth Congress, together with the other Cenacles of Missionary Prayer of spirituality.

In short, the activities of engagement for the creation and promotion of the Cenacles of Missionary Prayer (CPM) and others are proceeding normally. As well as the realisation of the Mission ad gentes, we would like to point out that there are two members, one of whom has just carried out his mission in the Central African Republic and the other does so locally in an orphanage.
