For several weeks now, the Christians of the Parish of ‘Notre Dame du Bon Secours’ in Bibwa have been joyfully awaiting the pastoral visit of Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa, which took place this Saturday, December 6, 2020. On this occasion, our confrere Guerlain Biseka Joachim was ordained priest and Father Elio Farronato celebrated, together with the parish community, the Fiftieth Anniversary of his priestly ordination.

The Eucharistic celebration began at 9:00 a.m., presided over by the Cardinal. It was attended by Christians from the parish of Our Lady of Good Help and from neighbouring parishes. The Cardinal invited Fr. Guerlain to be the response to the suffering of the people, especially the Congolese, and to follow the model of St. Daniel Comboni, who agreed to leave his native Italy and give his life for the African peoples, who were still living under suffering and slavery. He also asked him not to be afraid in the face of the heavy burden that the Lord had entrusted to him, but rather to put his trust in Him.

Leonard Ndjadi, provincial superior of Congo, thanked Fr. Guerlain for having accepted to give his life to God in the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries and for his perseverance during the fourteen years of his formation from propaedeutics to priesthood. He then presented to the assembly two Comboni postulants, who are preparing to go to the novitiate in Namugongo, Uganda, one Comboni lay woman from Kisangani, one Brother and five Comboni priests, including Guerlain Biseka, who are preparing to go to new missions in Africa, Europe and Latin America. It was on this occasion that Fr. Léonard announced that Fr. Guerlain was being sent to the missions in Peru. Finally, he asked the Cardinal to give his blessing to these missionaries, and the faithful to pray for them so that their mission would be fruitful.
