The Mission

1. General Secretariat of the Mission: The meeting of the Mission Secretariat took place on June 24, 2020 via videolink. Father Edmond Dimonekene, member of the secretariat, participated from Kisangani. We are waiting for the main lines of this meeting.

2. Our parishes: All our parishes have suspended liturgical and pastoral activities because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the faithful have shown their solidarity and support to our confreres. The Provincial counsil C is waiting for the annual report (pastoral and economic) of each parish for the next Provincial Council. In view of the movement of departures and arrivals, the Provincial counsil envisages in the medium term an internal rotation of personnel in the parishes to balance our commitments.

3. Comboni Lay Missionaries: In order to listen and understand the journey the Comboni Lay Missionaries in Congo are making, the provincial met Mrs. Tiffany Kimbwini, the National Coordinator of the Comboni Lay Missionaries, the group of CLM of Lemba St. Augustine, Fr. Célestin Ngore, the national chaplain, and Mr Dido Likambo. From these meetings, it emerges that there is a malaise that the CLM are experiencing. To this end, the provincial invited them to a meeting of truth and reconciliation on Sunday 28 June 2020 at the provincial house in Kingabwa.

4. The Laudato Si Missionary Centre: The planning of the annual activities of the Laudato Si Centre has been interrupted due to the containment measures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic by the Congolese government. In addition, in the framework of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Laudato Si Centre will organize in the next few days a targeted activity in order to sensitize and mobilize the Christian communities against the Coronavirus through barrier gestures, by providing them with protective materials such as masks, hydro-alcoholic gels, hand-washing machines, dustbins. The Orientation Council is planning a meeting, after the confinement, to draw up the roadmap for the year of Laudato Si and to launch together the activities that will mark out this year.

5. Our websites: The Provincial Council informs all the confreres that our three websites have been updated and are now operational. It invites the confreres and communities not only to consult them in order to share in the life of the province but also to suggest them to friends, relatives and benefactors, so that they may participate in our mission in the Congo. The PC therefore invites each confrere to make use of this virtual window to share some significant missionary experiences and to animate people by presenting our charism and missionary activities.
