Kimwenza Vocation Workshop

Kimwenza Vocation Workshop

Every year we usually take advantage of the Christmas or Easter break to organize the vocation workshop, an activity that brings together all the young comboni aspirants for a period of two or three days. For the Kinshasa region, this year the vocations workshop was held in Kimwenza from 20th to 22nd December 2019. The purpose of this activity was to initiate our young people to live together, to get to know each other and to share their experiences. They benefited from the teachings with the collaboration of Deacon Germain MAKANZU and Scolastic Oscar from the scolasticate of Kintambo. There were moments of initiation to the prayer of Lauds and Vespers, sports, manual work, reading and deepening of some Comboni writings, including a moment of social evening after the meal.

We welcomed 23 young people from various parishes and municipalities of Kinshasa, some of whom have completed their secondary schools, others are finalists, some in grade five and four. On the last day of our workshop, our comboni aspirants participated in Sunday Mass at the Divine Mercy Parish. We evaluated the three days spent together which many appreciated and expressed their deep gratitude for the warm welcoming and the initiative of the Comboni Missionaries to organise such an activity for them. A final prayer was said by the vocations promoter and the young people left Kimwenza at 3.30 p.m. to return home.
