Bondo: Sacre Cœur Parish / Centre Lisanga
(Diocese of Bondo)
Diocese of Bondo.
The Diocese of Bondo has an area of 75,600 km² and a population of more than 392,370 inhabitants, 45,000 of whom live in Bondo. It was erected in 1959. It is situated in the northwestern part of the former Oriental Province, in the current province of Bas-Uélé, on the border with the Central African Republic to the north. It is bordered to the south by the diocese of Buta, to the West by the diocese of Molegbe and to the East by the diocese of Dungu-Doruma. From East to West, the diocese extends over 800 km and from North to South over 200 km.

Comboni community of Bondo
The Bondo community is composed of five members, including two priests, namely: Fr. Pedro Indacochea, Superior and Fr. Nyebate Lazare, parish priest of the Sacré-Coeur de Jesus Limbasa Parish. Two brothers, namely: Bro. Tony Piasini and Bro. Nino del Portillo Miguel Angel and, finally, Scolastic Maurice Malema.

Historically, the Comboni community of Bondo had the task of responsibility and collaboration in the itinerant team set up by Mgr. Philippe Nkiere to animate the diocese according to the priorities given, especially through the formation of pastoral agents.

In 2005, this community was asked to become involved in the animation of the Centre for the Formation of Pastoral Agents, which is in Bondo itself, with the possibility of going for sessions in other parishes of the diocese. The Centre has been run by the Comboni Missionaries since its creation in 2006.

The regular formation has already brought several catechists, legionaries, teachers, many young people and priests of the diocese to different sessions organised within it.

The Pastoral Centre is also a centre for integral formation. A palm tree plantation, a coffee plantation and a Yatropha plantation (a plant whose oil has properties similar to diesel fuel) have been set up to give people the chance to work and learn new techniques, new cultures and above all a new conviviality.

There is also a new parish dedicated to the Sacred Heart at Limbasa which is served by the Comboni Missionaries.
